Cyfrowy Polsat: record financial results in the first quarter of 2008
Wednesday, May 14th, 2008As at 31 March 2008, Cyfrowy Polsat S.A. (Warsaw: CPS), the largest provider of pay DTH satellite television broadcasting services in Poland, had a total of 2,187,230 subscribers.
In the period between 31 March 2008 and 31 March 2007, the total number of subscribers increased by 717,714, i.e. by 49%. This growth contributed directly to the growth of net operating income.

Cost of digital satellite TV receiving equipment sold
The cost of digital satellite TV receiving equipment sold decreased by PLN 25.3 million, i.e. by 44.2% from PLN 57.2 million in the three months ended 31 March 2007 to PLN 31.9 million in the three months ended 31 March 2008. This decrease primarily resulted from a decrease in the number of new subscribers who purchased the set-top boxes from the Company in Q1 2008 in comparison with Q1 2007, and a decrease in the unit cost of purchasing the set-top boxes from external suppliers.
