UNTERFÖHRING — One year after the launch of Sky Q by Sky Deutschland, the company has added a Sky Q Mini Box for multiroom viewing and expanded platform support for the Sky Q app, so that customers can enjoy their Sky programming on even more devices at home.

Julia Laukemann, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Sky Deutschland said: “Since the successful launch a year ago, we have continued to develop and improve Sky Q step by step. With the new Sky Q Mini Box, we now offer our customers the maximum freedom. Whether in the bedroom, study, nursery or home theater: Sky Q is available in any other space customers desire, directly over the Internet and without any satellite or cable connection.”

The Sky Q Mini Box is an Android IP Box that includes the Sky Q user interface as well as many features that customers already appreciate on their Sky Q receiver. Linear Sky channels, public service programming and partner channels, movies and TV series on demand, streaming apps from the likes of ARD and ZDF, as well as features like restart, resume, serial autoplay for fans of binge watching, kids mode and voice control are also available on the Sky Q Mini. Apps from Netflix and Spotify will be added in the near future.

The box is connected to the TV via HDMI and optionally via LAN cable or WLAN to the Internet. The optical output allows direct connection to a sound system. An additional antenna connection for satellite or cable is not required. The package includes the Sky Q Mini Box, a Sky Q voice remote control including batteries, and HDMI and power cables. Sky Q customers have the opportunity to order the Sky Q Mini Box for a one-off fee of €49 (plus shipping costs). Customers need to already have a Sky Q contract.

With Sky Q Mini and the Sky Q App, Sky Go and the Sky Kids app, customers can watch their exclusive Sky programming on up to three devices simultaneously. The devices are registered centrally in a device list. A maximum of four devices can be registered at the same time. Once a month a device can be exchanged. In addition, customers can view their content in parallel on up to two Sky Q receivers.

The Sky Q App will be available on LG Smart TVs and PlayStation 4 from summer 2019 onwards. The Sky Q App is already available on the Apple TV Box (4th generation+) and Samsung Smart TVs (2015+).
