Norges televisjon (NTV) approves first PVR for DTT

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Norges televisjon (NTV) has approved the first personal video recorder (PVR) for use with Norway’s digital terrestrial television (DTT) service.

The twin-tuner PVR is provided by Grundig (DTR 6680 VOD) and has a 500 GB hard disk allowing up to 375 hours of recording. The PVR has an additional slot, in addition to the card slot for NTV’s RiksTV service, that can later be used for payment of films for download, or other premium services.

Delivery begins in the second week of August, so the PVR will be available before the 2nd of September when the analogue service closes in Vestfold, Buskerud and Telemark.

The suggested price is NOK 4,490 ($880) with a discount to NOK 2,998 ($590) for subscribers to RiksTV pay packages.
