SAN MATEO, California — Entone, Inc., the IPTV connected home company, today announced that their Hydra™ HD IPTV video gateway and Amulet™ HD IPTV receiver have been selected by Netstream for their operator’s high-definition (HD) IPTV service deployments in Switzerland.
Netstream is an innovative Internet service provider (ISP) based in Dübendorf, Switzerland, providing managed services and systems integration to a well-known list of telephone operators throughout Switzerland.
“Our customers wanted a reliable solution that would allow them to rapidly deploy IPTV services. We needed a robust IPTV set-top solution that was integrated with Minerva Networks’ iTVManager middleware platform,” stated Reto Kasser, CTO of Netstream. “We selected the Entone solution because of its field-proven track record and its capability to use existing in-home wiring infrastructure.”
Entone’s Hydra HD and Amulet HD enable HD IPTV and broadband video services using MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264) compression technologies. The devices and their software platforms are pre-integrated with the world’s leading middleware and digital rights management solutions and offer an array of optional features such as a digital video recorder (DVR), an ATSC/QAM tuner (for North America), or a DVB-T/DVB-C tuner (for EMEA) for receiving over-the-air broadcast television. For a wider distribution of video content throughout the home, Hydra HD and Amulet HD also support a broad range of home networking technologies such as 802.11n, HomePlug, and HomePNA 3.0. These robust features enable service providers to offer new revenue-generating services such as whole-home DVR.
“Switzerland represents one of the fastest growing IPTV markets in Europe,” commented Ian Jefferson, VP of Business Development at Entone. “The Netstream deployments further represent Entone’s commitment to providing world-class IPTV solutions tailored for the European marketplace. We are pleased to be working with Netstream on their IPTV rollouts and we look forward to supporting them in their success.”
