Meredith Stations in Portland to Offer NextGen TV Experiences With Triveni Digital

PRINCETON, N.J. — Triveni Digital today announced that Meredith, a leading U.S. multichannel media company, is deploying Triveni Digital’s comprehensive ATSC 3.0 solution to streamline the transition to NextGen TV. Meredith television stations KPDX and KPTV in Portland, Oregon, will use Triveni Digital’s ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Gateway scheduler, GuideBuilder® XM ATSC 3.0 Transport Encoder, StreamScope® XM ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 combo Analyzer, and StreamScope XM Verifier software application to ensure quality of service for viewers who are watching ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 streams.

“Delivering a high-quality television experience to viewers is of the utmost importance as we embrace this new broadcast television world, which offers interactive program enhancements, innovative service guides, and many more benefits,” said Tom Casey, vice president of technology at Meredith Corporation. “Triveni Digital is our longtime technology partner, and we trust their expertise to provide unparalleled levels of reliability, flexibility, and efficiency during this transitional period from ATSC 1.0 to ATSC 3.0. By providing us with a one-stop solution for the NextGen TV broadcast chain, Triveni Digital greatly simplifies what would otherwise be a very complex transition.”

Triveni Digital’s unified, software-based solutions support both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0, allowing the Meredith-owned television stations to maintain superior quality of service across both delivery platforms for the next few years via unlimited license portability in that DMA. Heartland Video Systems is providing system integration expertise to ensure a smooth deployment.

Leveraging Triveni Digital’s StreamScope XM Analyzers, KPDX and KPTV can perform critical RF and IP measurements for service quality assurance. The StreamScope XM Verifier provides the stations with an efficient way to receive, verify, and record ATSC 3.0 broadcast streams via ROUTE, MMTP, or SLTP protocols. Easy to install on any Windows-compatible device, the StreamScope Verifier application eliminates the need to carry around additional analyzer equipment to decrease Meredith’s opex.

“Meredith television stations are a leap ahead in providing state-of-the-art broadcast experiences,” said Ralph Bachofen, vice president of sales and marketing at Triveni Digital. “We are excited to continue that tradition in supplying KPDX and KPTV with a unified, software-based solution for ATSC 3.0 service delivery. Backed by years of technology innovation and real-world deployments, Triveni Digital’s ATSC 3.0 solution is easy to use and efficient, assuring exceptional-quality television experiences for Meredith’s viewers.”
