Global Mediacom (Indovision) 2007 Annual Report
Thursday, May 8th, 2008In 2007, the Company affirmed its focus on the Media & Telecommunications sectors. The Company changed its name from PT Bimantara Citra Tbk into a new name that can capture the essence of the Company’s core business, PT Global Mediacom Tbk. To further strengthen its Media business, the Company had subsequently extended its business lines through the addition of a Subscriber-based Media by acquiring PT MNC Sky Vision or populary known as Indovision, a company that engages in pay TV operation.
Subscriber-based Media Business in 2007
Indovision currently has more than 50% of the pay TV subscriber market share, making it the largest pay TV operator in Indonesia. Total subscribers as per 31 December 2007 was 305,372, representing a growth of 59% from last year’s amount of 192,117. We expect this rapid growth to continue as Indonesia’s pay TV penetration rate is only at 2-3%, which signalled further significant growth potential.
We believe the consolidation of Indovision into our media and telco operations is a complementary
multi-platform strategy and it shall strenghten our position as an integrated media and telco Group,
which can further create strategic, operational, and financial synergies for all media and telecommunications subsidiaries.
