Rapid and continued growth of du IPTV service in UAE protected by Latens Next Generation Software Conditional Access

BELFAST, UK and DUBAI, UAE — Latens, world leader in next generation software Conditional Access (CA) and Middleware for Pay-TV, today announced that the ‘du’ IPTV service, secured by Latens IPCAS, has grown to over 50,000 subscribers. du, the UAE based integrated telecommunications service provider, offers an innovative, multilingual IPTV service, providing TV channels from the UAE and around the world, catering to the tastes of different nationalities and cultures.

“We are aggressively pursuing our plans for growth and expansion as we are confident of the potential for growth of our IPTV service,” said Farid Faraidooni, EVP Commercial, du. “To do this successfully, it is imperative that our CA system can be upgraded and scaled without any disruption to our current services and customers, Latens does this and helps us to achieve our goals efficiently.”

Latens IPCAS is a fully DVB compliant software-based Conditional Access System for IPTV. IPCAS provides operators with significant cost savings in comparison to traditional smart cards by removing the cost of additional hardware, and decreasing the time to launch – meaning operators can start generating revenues earlier. Latens software CA also offers unparalleled security as the software solution replaces traditional smart cards with innovative Secure Software Modules. This approach provides superior levels of conditional access security with previously impossible hack recovery and anti-piracy features. As a result, Latens CAS is trusted by the world’s leading content providers. The Latens software CA family of products also offers operators of Cable, Satellite and Terrestrial Networks the same benefits over legacy smart card systems.

“Pay-TV piracy in the Middle East is well reported as a serious problem for network operators and their content providers. Operators like du are aware of the unique advantages of Latens software CA, and how it can enable their business. That du can continue to grow at such a fast pace is evidence that the Latens family of software CA systems has a vital role to play in preventing piracy in this market. It also highlights the importance of the stable and robust integration of Latens CAS with du’s IPTV network. We were able to achieve this by working closely with du’s extremely skilled technical team, providing them with a flawless security deployment in a matter of weeks,” says Gary Else, Director of Strategic Alliances, Latens. “I look forward to further success with du, as this highly ambitious operator continues to grow and innovate.”
