Systems Integrator CSI Digital Delivers VCAS-Secured IPTV Video Package

TelcoTV 08, ANAHEIM, Calif. — Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, and CSI Digital today announced Gorham Communications Inc (GCI) has selected D-Video!™ for its end-to-end IPTV solution. CSI Digital’s D-Video! has been integrated with the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS®) for IPTV to provide GCI a studio- and broadcaster-approved IPTV video package solution.

D-Video! is an IPTV wholesale video package that enables network operators a simple, quick and cost-effective method of upgrading their existing video plant and/or realizing a rapid, more effective way to enter new markets. CSI Digital leverages a worldwide satellite infrastructure, content, hardware and software licensing relationships to provide wholesale video. Verimatrix’s VCAS for IPTV 2.3 is the only content security solution that features end-to-end encryption specifically for this emerging IPTV business model. It can support any combination of centralized or distributed subscriber management, including mixes of middleware systems and set-top boxes (STB) to meet specific local needs of its IPTV retailer community. CSI Digital is an authorized reseller of Verimatrix’s content security solutions.

“It is important for us to deliver cost-effective and high-quality IPTV services. With the integrated solution, we are able to quickly build new infrastructure and market attractive services bundles to our existing and potential customer base,” said Mike Murphy, president of GCI. “We’ve been very pleased with the responsive customer service.”

Power & Tel, a distributor of telecommunications and cable TV equipment and partner of CSI Digital, introduced GCI to CSI Digital because its IPTV platform allows service providers to customize system components to meet their requirements. GCI has selected Minerva Networks’s middleware and STBs from Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) for its new IPTV service, scheduled to launch in January 2009, which will be delivered through GCI’s newly upgraded fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network.

“Content security is an integral part of every IPTV deployment. We are pleased to have Verimatrix, the leader of IPTV content security, as part of our turn-key solution that allows IPTV service providers to differentiate their services with premium content,” said Lu Bolden CSI Digital’s president. “Verimatrix’s support of the IPTV wholesale market makes our integrated and cost-effective solution an easy decision for our customers.”

“The economies of scale with the IPTV wholesale model are undeniable,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer of Verimatrix. “Our software-based content security solution provides the flexibility – along with capital and operational benefits – to enable GCI to quickly offer IPTV services. We are happy to work with CSI Digital in this market.”
