Romanian Pay-TV subscribers up 22%

According to the latest half yearly report published by Romania’s Autoritatea Naţională pentru Administrare şi Reglementare în Comunicaţii (ANCOM), the total number of pay TV subscribers in the country has risen from 4.56 million at the end of June 2007 to 5.58 million by mid-2008, with most of the rise being accounted for by growth in satellite subscriptions which doubled over the period.

At the end of June there were 5 satellite TV operators in Romania, 1 IPTV service and 539 cable providers (down from 584 in June 2007).
