Sunplus Delivers Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Solution for DTMB Digital TV and Set-Top-Box in China

The front-end SPHE6630 DTMB demodulator offers high reception for both mobile and static devices; the back-end SPHE1002 MPEG decoder provides all multimedia functions

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2401; LSE: SUPD), the world-leading multimedia IC design company, today announced its DTMB digital terrestrial broadcasting turnkey solution which includes the front-end DTMB demodulator SPHE6630 and the back-end MPEG decoder SPHE1002 for digital TV and Set-Top-Box applications targeted at China market.

The front-end DTMB demodulator SPHE6630 is the most advanced TDS-OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) multi-carrier demodulator, which is compliant with China DTMB terrestrial broadcasting standard as defined in GB20600-2006 by Tsinghua University. It can be used in either PN=420 or PN=945 modes with 6, 7 or 8 MHz channels and support QPSK/16QAM/64QAM reception. LDPC channel decoder covers 0.4/0.6/0.8 coding rate. Meanwhile, the SPHE6630 performs the extra-outstanding reception capability for mobile devices and good quality in the multipath or ACI environment.

The back-end MPEG decoder SPHE1002 is embedded the transport demultiplexer, MPEG-1/-2/-4 A/V decoding engine, USB, card reader, CAS, common interface, 2-channel audio DAC and 4-channel multi-format TV-encoder. It also supports CVBS, S-video, component YCbCr/YpbPr, and RGB output formats. With mass production shipment, the SPHE1002 is a market-proven solution for MPEG audio/video decode on both hardware and software.
