Consumers can experience the Video Processing Power (VPP) of the XCode 3000 Series System-on-Chip ICs

TORONTO, Canada — ViXS Systems, the leading developer of advanced HD transcoding and video processing solutions will be showcasing a wide variety of consumer electronics, set-top and blu-ray disk recorder solutions based on the XCode™ series ICs. During this year’s CES 2009 ViXS will be showcasing an industry first: a fully compliant DLNA server stack with real-time transcoding. By running the DLNA Server with the XCode™ 3000 HD Transcoder, HD content can be made available to a wide array of HD and SD DLNA clients. This will allow a particular format of media to be made available to multiple DLNA clients that may have decoder constraints due to the type of media they are able to process. Other innovations that are shipping in products today include hard-disk savings of 5-7 times by converting MPEG2 HD to MPEG4 AVC HD content, place-shifting and high-speed transcoding to support portable media players.

ViXS’ video processors are currently being used to manage, secure, and protect broadcast-quality video in a wide range of CE, Set-Top and DTV applications, allowing consumers to easily capture, process and distribute broadcast-quality video throughout the home and on the go. ViXS’ XCode 3000™ series is the world’s most advanced MPEG4 AVC (MPEG4 Part 10/H.264) Transcoder/Encoder/Decoder System-on-a-Chip (SoC), and has led the way by being the first – and only – single-chip hardware transcoder shipping in all markets with numerous leading manufacturers. The XCode™ series is shipped in a variety of products, including Set-Top-Boxes, Blu-Ray Disc Recorders, personal video recorders (PVR), and digital PVR TVs.

“Our XCode 3000™ series has revolutionized the way consumers interact with their video content, allowing them to store, distribute and share broadcast-quality content both easily and efficiently,” said Sally Daub, President and CEO of ViXS Systems. “We are excited to be demonstrating our large selection of products and applications that feature our XCode 3000™ IC at this year’s CES, and we look forward to once again setting the stage for product excellence.”
