Special $2 deals and free movies galore for all customers in July

SINGAPORE — Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) [Singapore: SGX; Australia: ASX] today announced that its mio TV service has surpassed its 100,000 customer mark.

The milestone coincides with the service’s second birthday and to celebrate, all new and existing customers will be able given a special selection of ten movies which they can watch on-demand for free. Additionally, for the entire month of July, all other movies from mio TV’s extensive video-on-demand selection can be purchased at $2.00 each.

“It is nice to be able to give something back to our loyal customers who have helped us get to where we are today,” said Mr Low Ka Hoe, Director, IPTV Business, SingTel. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support and I sincerely hope they will enjoy watching the movies we have chosen for them with their friends and family this July.”

mio TV was launched 20 July 2007 and has since brought many new, innovative offerings and features to Singapore’s pay TV market, which was dominated by a single service provider for over a decade.

It was the first pay TV operator in the world to offer ‘Season Pass’, where popular US TV series like Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl and Prison Break are made available to Singapore viewers as early as 24 hours after their US premiere, as well as the first to offer customers blockbuster Hollywood movies on the same day as their DVD release.

The service, which works on Internet Protocol technology, allows a high level of viewer interactivity. Viewers can control ‘live’ TV – rewind, pause and resume – and programme their recordings from the Internet. mio TV’s video on-demand feature – which has received positive feedback and strong uptake – gives customers access to hundreds of hours of movies, documentary and educational programming at the touch of a button. With mio TV, TV viewers are no longer restricted by scheduled programming and can watch what they want, when they want.

mio TV also currently offers Singapore’s largest selection of HD content, ranging from documentaries and lifestyle features to movies. All mio TV set-top boxes are HD-ready and are provided free to subscribers.
