Las Vegas, Nevada — Iwedia, the international provider of embedded DVB-based software solutions for digital television devices, and AwoX, the worldwide supplier of UPnP/DLNA-based middleware and solutions for networked audiovisual devices, today announced at the CES ’07 exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada that they have entered into a cross-licensing process.

The agreement will allow Iwedia to enhance its product portfolio with home networking features. An IP-enabled set-top box operated by Iwedia DVB middleware Comedia will thus integrate smoothly within a UPnP/DLNA-compliant home network to deliver Digital Media Adapter (DMA) functions to its user. In return, AwoX will benefit from the agreement by integrating digital TV reception features in its middleware and solutions. A UPnP/DLNA-compliant media server operated by AwoX middleware will thus be able to record live digital TV and serve a recorded or live digital TV event to a client device connected to the home network.

Patrick Desproges, CEO, Iwedia, says, “The main trend today is for set-top boxes to deliver an enhanced experience to the user by being integrated within the home network. This agreement with AwoX will allow us to enhance our value proposal by fulfilling this market requirement very efficiently.”

Alain Molinié, CEO, AwoX, adds, “We have entered the era of pervasive TV, making the introduction of digital TV reception features into connected audiovisual devices a must! Thanks to the integration of Iwedia’s solution we will further increase functional coverage and with this, our product distribution, reinforcing our position as market leaders.”
