Major operators in Hungary end Q1 2011 with 1.48 million digital TV subscribers

In March 2011, the number of households with digital television subscriptions in the network of Hungary’s twelve largest broadcasters rose to 1,479,520, states a flash report released by the country’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság – NMHH). Satellite subscribers accounted for 890,545 of the digital total with cable and IPTV making up the remaining 588,975.
The flash report is based on data provided on a voluntary basis by Hungary’s 12 largest broadcasters and covers approximately 80 to 85 percent of the subscription television services market. The service providers featured – Magyar Telekom Nyrt., Invitel Zrt., UPC Magyarország Kft., FiberNet Zrt., DIGI Kft., PR-TELEKOM Zrt., Tarr Kft., ViDaNet Zrt., PARISAT Kft., RubiCom Zrt., Hello HD Kft. and UPC DTH S.à.r.l. – registered a total of 2,695,785 subscriptions at the end of March.
