At the CEATEC electronics show in Tokyo, MMBI announced its new mobile TV channel to be called ‘NOTTV’. The service will only be available on smartphones, and will launch officially in April 2012.
Broadcasting will be based on ISDB-Tmm technology using bandwidth freed up by the switching-off of Japan’s analogue TV broadcasting earlier this year.
MMBI is backed by Japan’s largest mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo, and the country’s major TV broadcasters.
