Vestel produces Android IPTV platform for Wingo in Switzerland

LONDON — Vestel, a major player in the consumer electronics industry, today announced that it has successfully launched new advanced client platform based on Android OS to receive the IPTV services of Wingo Ltd. in Switzerland, and present the product at this year’s TVConnect 2013, Mar 19th – 21th.

New client platform will bring a wide range of content; linear TV, VOD and catch-up TV services to homes by Wingo. Service will be exclusive for Swiss residentials only. Wingo is so one of the first operator worldwide to propose a first screen based on Android OS. The platform uses Marvell’s Armada 1500 chipset providing substantial and robust computing power which enables very smooth and enormously fast functional operation and big memory configuration enables long hours of recording and timeshift feature. Platform is based on Android OS introducing flexibility and freedom of Android application availability. End users enjoy the best viewing experience with superior picture quality with the flexibility of ultra-fast Wi-Fi or ethernet connection.

Vestel will be showcasing the new Wingo box on their stand 89 in Olympia Exhibition Centre at TV Connect 2013.
