SEPTEMBER 9, 2006 – IWEDIA TECHNOLOGIES, the international provider of embedded software solutions for digital television devices, today announced the availability of its Personal Video Recorder (PVR) solution for the STMicroelectronics STi5100 chipset.
An extension to IWEDIA COMEDIA middleware, the solution (dubbed COMEDIA PVR ADD-ON) takes full benefit of advanced features of the STi5100 chipset to provide support for sophisticated functions such as `watch & record', `playback & dual recording', time shifting, etc.
The result of the pre-integration of COMEDIA PVR ADD-ON with the STi5100 chipset is a cost-effective, software-plus-hardware turnkey solution, targeted at Set-Top Box manufacturers. The solution has been designed to be easily customized to allow for a rapid time-to-market.
Patrice Birot, VP Sales, IWEDIA, says, "We foresee an explosion of PVR shipments, especially for the free-to-air digital television terrestrial networks in Europe. Our common solution with STMicroelectronics is ideally positioned to serve this growing market in terms of both pricing and functions."
The solution will be showcased at IBC `06 in Amsterdam, from September 8th through 12th, on stand 4.358.
