GIST’s UGuide Trial Version Of The ‘TV Command Center’ For Mobile Phones Making Waves in Telecom Industry

NOVEMBER 14, 2006 - GIST Communications, delivering mobile digital services for managing TV content, announced that the patent application for its popular UGuide™ has been published by the US Patent Office.

UGuide is designed to work with any PVR, including set-top boxes and Media Center PCs, by enabling users to remotely manage and schedule recordings via a cellular network, using the application on a wireless mobile device.

Upon availability, hundreds of users downloaded the UGuide in a matter of weeks. Discussions are now underway between GIST Communications and US mobile carriers for a commercial offering of its market-shaping, mobile EPG that searches TV programming and analyzes viewers' program preferences to deliver personalized recommendations directly to the mobile phone.

Any registered user can personalize the service, creating an individual profile containing preferences for a variety of content, such as digital radio programming, TV series, movies, genres, etc. These profile inputs, along with sophisticated collaborative filtering technology and other recommendation-generation techniques, hide between a simple, straightforward interface.

GIST’s easy to use UGuide gives consumers true remote control, also enabling them to use cell phones to schedule recordings on PVRs at home. The UGuide can be downloaded on a free trial basis at http://www.uguidetv.com.
