ITU symposium to mark switchover from analogue to digital TV
Jun 1, 2015 – The deadline for the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, set for 17 June 2015, is applicable for all countries belonging to ITU Region-1 and Iran. ITU will mark this milestone with a symposium at its headquarters in Geneva.

ITU approves H.265/HEVC second edition standard
Nov 21, 2014 – The second edition of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), Recommendation ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC International Standard 23008-2 includes enhanced format range extensions to improve video quality, general multi-layer support, scalability to cope with IP network congestion, and native 3D (multi-view) video encoding.

Romania concludes DTT multiplex auction

Africa set to deploy digital television

Kenya's analogue switch off to begin with Nairobi in December 2013
Aug 6, 2013 – The Kenyan government has announced that Nairobi will be the first to switch over to digital TV broadcasting services on December 13 in a phased switch-off plan scheduled to end on June 30, 2014.

New EBU Recommendation on Future Spectrum Use
Jun 26, 2012 – The EBU has published a recommendation on spectrum management. The recommendation points out that there are differences in terrestrial broadcasting between EBU Member markets. Such differences should be taken into account when planning UHF usage in future.

South Africa reaffirms commitment to DVB for DTT
Jan 14, 2011 – South Africa's Minister of Communications has said that RRC-06 adopted DVB-T as the DTT standard for Region 1 (Africa, Europe and the Middle East). All African countries are signatories to the agreement and are legally bound by its requirements.

Australia issues licences for 3D TV trials
May 14, 2010 – The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued licences which will allow the Nine Network and the SBS to conduct scientific trials of 3D TV in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle and Wollongong.
