Argentina to distribute 1.2 million free STBs this year
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010Argentina’s Planning Ministry (Ministerio de Planificación Federal Inversión Pública y Servicios – MinPlan) has announced that over the next two months the government will distribute, free of charge, 750,000 ISDB-T set-top-boxes, with another 450,000 to be allocated by the end of the year.
The “Televisión para Todos” plan is expected to cost $1.8 billion (USD) over the next three years.
ISDB transmissions began on a trial basis in Buenos Aires on April 21st, with the official launch planned for May 25th.
