Low-power silicon tuner improves ISDB-T and DVB-T signal reception in terrestrial TV applications; offers best-in-class noise figure (3.8dB) and power consumption (210mW)

SUNNYVALE, CA — Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX2136, a digital terrestrial television tuner for ISDB-T and DVB-T applications. Combining low power consumption with excellent performance, the device achieves a low noise figure of 3.8dB while only consuming 210mW. Additionally, the tuner supports the reception of signals as large as 10dBm while maintaining an excellent sensitivity of -99dBm. On-chip tracking filters, lowpass filters, and LNAs eliminate the need for expensive external components. Offering such an optimum balance between power and performance, the MAX2136 is ideal for automotive TV systems, consumer LCD TVs, and portable navigation devices.

The MAX2136 operates from a single 3V supply and draws 70mA (typ) when receiving ISDB-T 13-segment signals. Power consumption for DVB-T is the same as ISDB-T.

The MAX2136 is packaged in a lead-free, 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN, and is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Pricing starts at $4.00 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
