CARLSBAD, Calif. and OTTAWA — Irdeto (JSE: NPN), the global leader in securing and delivering premium content and digital assets, today announced its technology has been selected to enable access to premium online content from the Logitech Revue™ with Google TV™. Based on the Google TV platform, Logitech Revue offers – in an integrated user interface – TV programming, the Web and Android-based apps that can deliver premium content services and enable entirely new experiences. Logitech is drawing on Irdeto’s technology to deliver premium content services through apps such as Netflix Watch Instantly.
“By Logitech selecting our Cloakware technology to safely enable apps-based premium content on the Logitech Revue companion box, Irdeto is further positioned as the ideal partner for today’s leading premium content initiatives,” said David Canellos, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Irdeto. “Because our customers’ business models require a safe and secure environment, we worked closely with Logitech to ensure that sensitive assets are protected from tampering. In the rapidly growing broadband media landscape, opening the doors for content consumption is the underlying foundation for the success of offerings like the Logitech Revue.”
The Logitech Revue is a “companion box” designed to bring Google TV to existing HD television sets via a simple HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connection. As demonstrated by this collaboration, Irdeto’s Cloakware technology continues to be the choice for content protection on any consumer device, and has been time-tested and proven with such companies as Adobe, Netflix and Sony.
“Our objective with Logitech Revue is to deliver the best-possible experience with Google TV,” said Ashish Arora, Logitech (SIX: LOGN; NASDAQ: LOGI) vice president and general manager of the digital home group. “We are working with Irdeto to offer a safe environment for premium content services. We selected Irdeto because the company delivers a very flexible and reliable solution for protecting high-value content over broadband – without compromising user experience.”
