LAS VEGAS, NV — CES — WHDI LLC, the organization responsible for managing the WHDI™ (Wireless Home Digital Interface™) standard today announced that, together with leading WHDI technology supplier AMIMON, they will demonstrate numerous new WHDI products, technology innovations and future product designs at the International CES show, which runs January 6-9, 2011 in Las Vegas. At CES, a number of major CE manufacturers have announced WHDI products across key product categories: PC-to-TV, Wireless HDTV, tablet, mobile and more. The breadth of these products highlights WHDI’s ability to provide a HD wireless solution for all PC and CE devices, applications and consumer uses cases. Consumers just need to look for the WHDI logo to ensure that all of their devices will be able to work together.
Wireless HDTV, Display & Projectors
Haier, Hisense, TCL are among a number of CE manufacturers that will be demonstrating WHDI enabled wireless HDTV products at CES. Also, Vivitek will display an HD projector with WHDI embedded. WHDI easily enables the increasing number of HD sources to connect to an HDTV — without sacrificing quality or the applications and content that you can bring to the TV. WHDI provides a robust wireless connection that can deliver 1080p HD and 3D video, in the same room, or around the house. Additionally, WHDI will demonstrate “over-the-air” switching capabilities utilizing a WHDI transmitter hub with multiple source devices connected to seamlessly and lag free switch from source device to another from the HDTV.
At CES, WHDI and AMIMON will be demonstrating PC-to-TV products from ASUS, Brite-view and LG Innotek. WHDI’s success in the PC-to-TV category is highlighted by AMIMON’s WHDI Stick which has been selected as a CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the “Video Components” category. WHDI provides the ideal solution for wireless PC-to-TV connectivity — delivering superior 3D and HD image quality and low-latency so users can play PC games on an HDTV. With these product users can easily surf the internet and watch internet videos from the PC on the TV. Gamers around the world have rejoiced at the arrival of WHDI PC-to-TV products recently launched from a number of manufacturers.
Tablet & Mobile
At CES, WHDI and AMIMON will exhibit tablet designs and products from Gemtek, FIC and Malata, and will demonstrate mobile capabilities with a smartphone sleeve product from 35.com. As tablets proliferate and the processing power of smartphones continues to increase, the desire to connect those devices to an HDTV grows exponentially. WHDI maximizes the value of content on mobile and tablet devices by enabling not just the delivery of stored video to the TV but also game play, internet surfing and interactive applications on the TV. Additionally, WHDI is the only technology that meets the small footprint and low-power consumption requirements for integration into portable devices.
The WHDI standard delivers wireless 1080p 60Hz video (in a 40MHz channel in the 5GHz unlicensed band) providing consumers with the most robust and highest quality HD wireless connection. WHDI includes support for all 3D formats required by the HDMI™ 1.4a specification. WHDI has a range of 100 feet (30 meters) through obstacles and walls enabling consumers the freedom and hassle-free way to connect sources anywhere within a room or enable multi-room connections. Additionally, the WHDI technology implements HDCP revision 2.0 enabling wireless viewing on the TV of all PC content including Blu-Ray movies and DRM protected content. WHDI has multicast capabilities as well.
At CES, the WHDI LLC will be demonstrating the WHDI standard and exhibiting these products and more in its suite, No. 23121, at the Las Vegas Hilton (To coordinate a demonstration, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org).
“No other standard can match WHDI’s range, robustness, low latency and performance; WHDI is the only standard that can bring together all devices and enable all applications,” said Leslie Chard, president of WHDI LLC. “This wave of new products and designs clearly highlights WHDI position as the market leader in providing HD wireless connection products; no other HD wireless technology comes close to the amount/number of products and variety of different types products available to consumers.”
