Tigo to launch pay TV in Paraguay

Mobile phone operator Tigo, part of the Millicom Group (NASDAQ:MICC), has announced plans to launch pay TV in Paraguay in July this year. The service will initially be offered in the regions of Luque, San Lorenzo, Fernando de la Mora and Lambaré. The capital, Asunción, is also to be covered subject to approval by CONATEL the country’s telecoms regulator.
Tigo is negotiating with Paraguay’s Administración Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE) to use its fiber optic network to deliver the service to homes.
