S&T puts Aertel digital teletext on-air in Ireland

LONDON, UK — Strategy & Technology has supplied Irish public broadcaster RTÉ with its MHEG Presenter system for the official launch of Aertel digital teletext on the Saorview free-to-air terrestrial platform.

The new digital RTÉ Aertel information service offers viewers news, sport, business, weather and entertainment at the touch of a button. Aertel is accessed by pressing the text button on RTÉ One, RTÉ Two or RTÉ News Now. Saorview requires the UK MHEG Profile v1.06 in all receivers.

MHEG Presenter allows RTÉ to create complex teletext and information services using graphical layout tools and structured content data without writing any MHEG code.

Aertel content is produced using a content management system, which is integrated with MHEG Presenter. The content management system XML output is processed by MHEG Presenter to provide highly optimised broadcast data that is interpreted and displayed by the set top box MHEG application.
