SINGAPORE — CommunicAsia — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Dish Media Network Private Limited has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority (VCAS™) 3 system on its DVB-S2 network. Kathmandu-based Dish Media Network is Nepal’s only satellite-based direct-to-home (DTH) service provider.
Dish Media Network relies on VCAS™ for DVB to provide revenue protection for its premium linear content, which encompasses 70 channels including HBO, SHOWTIME, Starz, Cinemax, HD Platinum, and many other movie channels and packages. VCAS for DVB has also been integrated with the SMT set-top box that will power Nepal’s first personal video recorder (PVR) service launched later this month. Subscribers will be able to record programs and view at their convenience.
“We chose to partner with Verimatrix because they are uniquely capable of supporting our mission by protecting not only our existing premium services, but because VCAS also give us the flexibility to seamlessly expand our service offering to multiple screens in the future,” Frank Fischer, CTO, Dish Media Network.
VCAS for DVB provides Dish Media Network with a robust cardless security solution that saves the operator from managing the logistics of smart cards. VCAS utilizes standardized Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) Simulcrypt to ensure compatibility of Dish Media Network’s new premium content delivery with its legacy conditional access system (CAS) during the subscriber upgrade process.
“Deploying Verimatrix advanced cardless security solutions will enable Dish Media Network to expand its services in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining compatibility with its incumbent CAS and set-top boxes,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “DVB operators are recognizing the cost and operational advantages of the Verimatrix cardless security solution. VCAS for DVB is a complete CAS solution without any compromises on technology or business model support, while being an integral part of the broader VCAS 3 multi-network platform.”
Verimatrix VCAS solutions address the complexity of revenue security in today’s multi-network world. From flexible, cost-effective cable and satellite conditional access to adaptive rate streaming and harmonized multi-DRM management, Verimatrix offers advanced security architectures and ecosystem partnerships that are building the new generation of video delivery systems.
Verimatrix will be demonstrating its advanced multi-network security solutions at CommunicAsia 2012, 19-22 June, at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Visit booth #1M2-01to see demos of how the VCAS™ 3 architecture addresses current and future business and technical challenges.
