Thursday, March 24th, 2016GS Group has successfully implemented the investment project of creating One TV, Cambodia’s DTT-operator
On March 24, 2016, the GS Group international investment and industry holding company announced the sale of the controlling stake of One TV, Cambodia´s first pay-DTT project, thus, successfully completing the project’s investment cycle. The holding company’s partner, The Royal Group of Companies (Kingdom of Cambodia) successfully purchased the majority stake in the operator.
One TV, Cambodia’s first national pay-DTT operator, was launched in 2012. The project became one of the first successful examples worldwide of implementing the program of TV digitalization on the basis of in-house technologies, competencies and funds of privately held companies – GS Group and The Royal Group of Companies. The program itself is being carried out under the guidance of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) across the globe. Thus, One TV was the specific case of business addressing the national-level challenges in the area of digital television.
“The GS Group first international DTT project One TV is an example of implementing the Pay TV project based on the national digital terrestrial broadcasting and addressing the national-level issues by privately held company. We are satisfied with the first successful experience of investing in such projects overseas, as a result the holding company has developed the necessary highly rated business competencies in TV broadcasting project management. Our short-term plans include focusing our financial and other resources on launching priority projects in other markets. GS Group is interested in Pay TV markets where there is a significant demand for high quality TV broadcasting at an affordable price, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and a number of other countries”, Sergey Dolgopolsky, PR, GR and IR director, Foreign Broadcasting Projects Department, GS Group.
