Mautilus prepared first Olympic Games 4K streaming application in CEE
Mautilus, Czech application development company, in cooperation with Slovak Telekom, has prepared the first commercial 4K streaming application in Central and Eastern Europe with Olympic Games content.
The application offers a sport channel, which covers Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, and because of the high bandwidth demand (10Mbps) uses a network speed test to set the proper streaming quality (FHD or 4K). The streaming is being done using the MPEG-DASH protocol with HEVC video codec with single bitrate and single resolution. The Olympic content is available for free to all users in Slovakia with Samsung Tizen televisions.
Petr Mazanec, CTO of Mautilus, commented the project: “We always like to prepare
something new, to push the technological limit, and the 4K streaming from Olympic Games has been very much that kind of project.”
“Preparation of 4K streaming app of Olympic Games has been a challenging project, but Mautilus handled everything with ease and prepared a clean application that truly fulfils our initial intention” added Tomas Sustr, Senior designer at Slovak Telekom.
