SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — As consumers continue to demand content personalization and portability in their electronics products, steady shipment growth of portable consumer devices is expected through 2011, reports In-Stat. The markets for digital radio receivers, edutainment toys, portable media players, and portable navigation devices will all thrive over the next five years, the high-tech market research firm says.

“The most noticeable trends in these categories are the continued expansion of features, such as portable media players that can access the Internet, as well as the potential threat mobile phones pose to standalone personal navigation devices and personal media players,” says Stephanie Ethier, In-Stat analyst.

Recent research by In-Stat found the following:

  • Worldwide Edutainment Toy shipments will reach 114.4 million units by 2011.
