LONDON/ATHENS — Antenna Group, the leading international media and entertainment organisation, is launching a local SVOD service in Greece offering viewers a range of popular local content.

The new SVOD service, ANT1 NEXT (“Antenna Next”), is available from today in Greece for €2.99 and launches with a range of exclusive programming as well as popular boxsets and catch-up content. Some of the titles available on the service include the dramas Brousko, Twin Moons and Daddy Cool.

Announcing the launch, Antenna Group Managing Director, Pete Smith said: “We are delighted to be launching our new SVOD service in Greece following the huge success of our TVOD platform last year. Viewers want more flexibility in how they consume content and ANT1 NEXT allows our audience – particularly the younger demographic – the opportunity to watch an episode of their favourite show before it airs on our linear channel or to catch-up on one of our primetime entertainment programmes.”

He added: “We are investing heavily in our digital brands and operations to make sure that our audiences in Greece and internationally are able to access our content in a variety of ways. We were the first broadcaster in Greece to launch such a service and we will continue to invest in content and technology to make sure that Antenna Group leads the way in innovation and viewer experience.”

ANT1 NEXT initially launched as a TVOD service in 2016. Following its success, Antenna Group is now launching a subscription service offering premium content and an innovative viewing experience for a monthly subscription fee. ANT1 NEXT launches with scripted and entertainment content but aims to diversify its offering to include a range of genres in the future.

Antenna Group also operates web TV platform Netwix, the first service of its kind in Greece, which offers exclusive short-form content across comedy, entertainment, lifestyle and gaming genres. In addition to Antenna’s wholly-owned digital brands, the Group also has a hugely successful partnership with VICE Media in the region. The joint venture, Vice Media Greece, produces a range of local digital content for its online news sites as well as original documentaries for transmission on Antenna’s regional linear channels.
