TiVo Renews Multi-year Patent License and Signs Global Metadata Deal with Minerva Networks

LAS VEGAS — CES 2019 — TiVo Corporation (NASDAQ: TIVO), a global leader in entertainment technology and audience insights, today announced that Minerva Networks, an IPTV industry pioneer and the leading supplier of service management infrastructure for the delivery of pay-TV services, has signed a multi-year intellectual property (IP) license renewal and new global metadata deal to use TiVo as the primary metadata provider for their new cloud service delivery platform, Minerva YourTV Now.

“TiVo’s IP continues to provide companies around the world with access to transformative entertainment technologies, and our license renewal with Minerva Networks underscores the leadership position of TiVo’s portfolio in the marketplace,” said Arvin Patel, executive vice president and chief IP officer, Rovi Corporation, a TiVo company. “Thanks to our extensive IP portfolio, Minerva Networks can deliver compelling experiences to customers in the United States, Latin America, and around the world.”

In addition to the IP license agreement, the new global metadata deal enables Minerva to unify its metadata across the Minerva 10 platform and gain the benefits of using TiVo as their primary provider, rather than relying on multiple vendors. TiVo’s metadata platform offers scale, dynamism and great core data so Minerva can deliver best-in-class experiences to its customers. Powered by unique and innovative technology, TiVo’s metadata platform can quickly surface trending content to market the right content at the right time, improve search and recommendations, and support voice-powered results.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Minerva Networks and are honored by the trust they have placed in us,” said Sarah Gaeta, senior vice president and general manager, Metadata, TiVo. “We look forward to supporting Minerva with innovative entertainment enhancements that will be enjoyed for years to come by its current and future customers.”

The TiVo companies have spent decades investing in research and development to generate some of the most valuable intellectual property in the media and entertainment industry. This commitment to innovation provides TiVo the freedom of action to deliver solutions that touch practically every aspect of consumers’ day-to-day interaction with their entertainment, and empowers IP licensees to build customized next-generation digital entertainment solutions for consumers across the globe.
