DS2 advocates Powerline Communications for whole home connectivity in IPTV services

Interoperability the key theme of DS2’s Powerline Communications Connectivity demo

VALENCIA, Spain — DS2, the leading technology innovator and global supplier of high-speed powerline communications technology, will join the ranks of leading international silicon suppliers at Computex 2008, debuting on the show floor in the new Nangang Hall, with a tailor-made, public display entitled Connectivity. The demo highlights key features of DS2 Powerline Communications ICs for self-install and whole home networking in IPTV services to build or extend a home network for all the family.

DE21P Reference Design for Embedded Powerline Applications

DS2’s DE21P Embedded Powerline Reference Design is designed for use with Aitana, DS2’s leading 200Mbps chipset solution for reliable high speed multimedia home networking, consumer electronics and service provider IPTV applications. DS2 will be previewing how solutions based on the DE21P module embedded in widely different products including set top boxes, home gateways, remote speaker systems, IP cameras, or personal computers, can deliver reliable HD streaming for time-shift video, personal video file sharing, IPTV and HDTV.

Secure HDTV streaming with Aitana™ based Powerline Adapters

Aitana is DS2’s 2nd generation 200Mbps Powerline IC. The chipset includes a powerful embedded multimedia network processor and programmable API that makes the process of developing lower cost solutions to deliver secure, manageable and uninterrupted IPTV, VoIP and video streaming throughout the home much easier for service providers worldwide. Aitana’s unique TDMA-based MAC enhances uninterrupted video-streaming, and is today the only solution able to handle video multi-streaming, and neighbour networks efficiently by reducing the congestion on the network often associated with CSMA systems. At Computex 2008, DS2 will be demonstrating simultaneous transmission of multiple HDTV streams using Aitana-based powerline communications modems to connect between multiple TV screens and an X-box for streaming and transfer of high-quality video content.

Audio IP with Montgo

Montgo is DS2’s lowest cost 100Mbps Powerline IC that is fully interoperable with Aitana so that devices based on either can be connected on the same network and they will communicate with one another, whether rated at 100Mbp or 200Mbps. During Computex, visitors to DS2’s booth can see how 100Mbps Powerline Adapted based on Montgo deliver audio IP while on the same network with Aitana-based products delivering HDTV streaming.
