Currys Becomes Sky’s Exclusive Retail Partner for Sky Stream

  • Currys will be the only UK tech retailer to sell Sky Stream in 2023
  • Partnership between Sky and Currys will see Sky Stream sold in 285 Currys stores nationwide, providing customers with valuable hands-on demo opportunities
  • Sky Stream allows users to access their favourite shows, channels and apps all in one place, without the need for a satellite dish

Currys, the UK’s leading technology retailer, has scaled up its relationship with Sky to become the exclusive retail partner for Sky Stream.[1]

Available to buy on its own, or in conjunction with customers’ latest tech purchases, the partnership between Currys and Sky is designed to ensure that as many customers as possible have the opportunity to demo the new satellite-free streaming device, which will be on display in all of Currys’ 285 stores across the UK, as well as online.

Powered by thousands of tech experts working within these stores, Currys is the leading retailer of TVs in the UK, and customers will be able to find Sky Stream demonstrated in any ‘Vision’ area of a store by the end of July. Here, they can have in-depth conversations with Currys colleagues and learn more about how the device allows them to stream all their favourite shows, channels and apps from one simple ‘puck’ that plugs into their TV.

That means access to over 150 channels and 100,000 hours of aggregated content, exclusive Sky channels and all the most popular entertainment apps available in one place on any TV, without the need for a satellite dish or engineer installation. Instead, Sky Stream can be purchased in-store, easily plugged in at-home and fully set-up by any Currys customer directly, ‘no dish, no fuss’.

The UK’s best TV aggregation platform also includes unmissable shows not on Freeview, as well as a range of top apps, including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, YouTube, Discovery+, Peacock, Paramount+, Fiit and more. Clever features like Restart live TV and Playlist make your TV smarter, and voice search helps you find shows in a flash and control your TV with your voice.

What’s more, as Stream removes the need for a dish and instead runs over Wi-Fi, customers have extra incentive to take advantage of Currys’ excellent broadband deals. On average, customers save over £206 a year on their fibre broadband bill when they switch with Currys.

Ed Connolly, Chief Commercial Officer for Currys, commented: “This partnership brings together our market-leading range and expertise when it comes to TVs, and all the unmissable content available from Sky. From today, customers can pop into their nearest Currys store and see just how easy it is for them to access all their favourite shows – whether they be Sky exclusives, Netflix blockbusters or BBC classics – all from one device that plugs right into their TV.

“We’re delighted to be able to sell this exciting new product from Sky, helping more customers than ever before to enjoy truly amazing new technology.”

Stephen van Rooyen, Sky’s Chief Executive Officer, UK & Ireland said: “Sky Stream is all about making our world class TV platform available to even more customers, which means partnering with Currys is the logical next step. We’re hugely excited to work with the team across their huge footprint of stores to take a fantastic product to even more customers.”

1. Sky Stream is exclusively available at Currys until 31.12.23 – in addition to Sky’s retail stores
