Ecuador tests ISDB-T for DTT

Ecuador has begun digital television transmision trials this month as part of a process to chose a new system for use after analogue switch-off.

The Japanese standard is one of three that is being considered, along with DVB and ATSC. Toshiba is poviding the equipment for the ISDB-T trial.

The Consejo Nacional de Radio y Televisión (Conartel) expects that a decision on the standard for Ecuador will be made early next year.
