CANAL OVERSEAS begins DVB-H trial in Côte d'Ivoire
Thursday, December 4th, 2008PARIS – CANAL OVERSEAS AFRICA, a subsidiary of CANAL OVERSEAS and operator of CANALSAT HORIZONS in sub-Saharan Africa, has today launched a CANALSAT MOBILE trial in Côte d’Ivoire – the first DVB-H mobile television service in Francophone Africa.
The service consists of six television channels – CANAL+ HORIZONS, I>télé, Planète, RTI, Infosport, Trace TV, and radio from RFI. Handheld devices and mobile phones from Quantum will be used for the trial. The service was developed in cooperation with local company Monic@sh.
After the trial period lasting several months, a full service launch could be announced for 2009.
