PARIS — The Canal+ Group (Paris: VIV) has announced the launch of a bouquet of French language satellite channels covering Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
The launch is the fruit of a partnership between CANAL OVERSEAS, part of the Canal+ Group, and Arabsat, the principal satellite operator in the Arab world.
The bouquet is available on ARABSAT’s new satellite BADR6, launched in August 2008.
The service is distributed using pre-paid smart cards, with the conditional access being provided by VIACCESS (PC 4.0).
The countries of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia represent a substantial market with a total of 13 million households, 10 million of which are equipped with satellite receivers.
