Cable Revenues To Reach $49.3 billion in 2012

Global Cable Subscriber growth was 7.1% in 2008

Strong subscriber growth in Eastern Europe (+19.5%) and Latin America (+16.5%)

Cable modem revenues, defined as total gross revenue accrued over a year by operators from subscriptions to cable modem services and initial connection fees, were up globally 13.5%.

We are forecasting that global cable subscriptions will reach 111.3 million subscribers in 2012 (CAGR of 8.3%)

We are forecasting that global cable revenues will rise to $49.3 billion (CAGR of 8.0%) in 2012

North America

  • Cable Subscriber growth in North America was 5.5% in 2008.
  • On the other hand, cable modem revenues, defined as total gross revenue accrued over a year by operators from subscriptions to cable modem services and initial connection fees, were up 12.4% in 2008.
  • We are forecasting that cable subscriptions in North America will reach 54.9 million subscribers in 2012 (CAGR of 6.8%)
  • Also, our model predicts that cable revenues in North America will rise to $28.5 billion (CAGR of 6.5%) in 2012

South & Central America

  • In South & Central America, cable Subscriber growth was 16.5% in 2008.
  • Cable modem revenues, defined as total gross revenue accrued over a year by operators from subscriptions to cable modem services and initial connection fees, were up 23.2% in 2008.
  • We are forecasting that cable subscriptions in the region will reach 14.9 million subscribers in 2012 (CAGR of 19.3%)
