BRISTOL — Ocean Blue Software and Opera Software are proud to announce a joint collaboration to deliver a fully integrated DVB Web-based solution for offering advanced digital TV capabilities such as Internet-based streaming of TV content.

Ocean Blue Software has selected the Opera Devices SDK and integrated it to its mature DVB software stack, Sunrise. This innovative development will enable Ocean Blue to supply customers with a turnkey Internet TV solution offering advanced functionality in a time and cost effective manner.

Ocean Blue clients will be able to produce solutions for set-top-boxes and iDTVs with full Web browsing capability, allowing access to sites such as YouTube, Flicker and “watch again” services, alongside the linear broadcast. Thanks to Opera Devices SDK technology, this will all be delivered via a consistent user interface, irrespective of the content delivery platform being used.

“Ocean Blue’s products and Opera Devices SDK are at the forefront of digital TV experience. The integration of both technologies will provide consumers with a greater choice of TV content and Internet functionality. We can now offer a compelling end-user experience, delivering Internet and broadcast content in a seamless manner.” commented Ken Helps, CEO of Ocean Blue.

“Our partnership with Ocean Blue Software addresses the promise of a seamless and elegant integration of both IP and DTV “worlds” in hybrid TVs and set-top-boxes, one of the key elements that will bring the best of the Web right into the living room, said Jean-Christophe Vuillot, Director Product Management, Mobile & Devices, Opera Software.

A demonstration of the development, which will form part of the Ocean Blue Horizon suite of internet TV offerings, will be on display for the first time at IBC September 11-15; Stand 5.A12.
