Scopus and Kvant-Efir Selected by Ukraine's RRT to Deploy Country's First MPEG-4 DTT Network

AMSTERDAM — IBC Show — Scopus Video Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: SCOP), a provider of digital video networking solutions, together with Kvant-Efir, a leading manufacturer and supplier of TV and radio broadcasting equipment in the Ukraine, announced today that they have been selected to supply and implement a DTT network in Ukraine. RRT, the country’s largest government TV and radio operator, awarded the two companies a contract to deploy, for the first time in Ukraine, MPEG-4 H.264 networks. The initial deployment will be carried out in the Kiev and Zhitomyr regions.

According to the awarded tender, the companies will implement two digital Single Frequency Networks (SFN) serving a population of 5.5 million by the end of 2007. The full terrestrial networks will combine high-power digital TV transmitters, MPEG-4 encoding and multiplexing headends, and signal distribution networks. Kvant-Efir will also provide system integration services, it will launch and operate the network as well as a control center. Scopus’ transmission and compression platforms will be deployed at the headend and receiving sites, and will be comprised of IVG-7100 Intelligent Video Gateways, UE-9000 encoders, and IRD-2900 Integrated Receiver Decoders.
