Dedicated software solution showcased at IFA ’07

Rennes, France — IWEDIA, the international provider of embedded DVB-based software solutions for digital television devices, today announced it will be showcasing its market solution for MPEG-4 HD-compliant integrated Digital HDTVs during IFA ’07 in Berlin from August 31st through September 5th.

This market solution is a dedicated edition of IWEDIA Comedia middleware, designed to be embedded in a MPEG-4 HD on-board module inserted within an analog HDTV chassis.

During the show, the software solution will be demonstrated integrated within an on-board module based on the STMicroelectronics STi7109 chipset.

Based on a robust, reliable, field-proven DVB system layer, the solution comes with a full set of features: MHEG-5 1.06 interactive engine, 7-day Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Over-The-Air (OTA) bootloader, DVB-Common Interface (DVB-CI) host software, etc. An exchange protocol has been defined to pilot the on-board module from within the analog chassis. A WYSIWYG authoring tool provides unique user interface customization possibilities.

Patrick Desproges, CEO, IWEDIA, says: “The decision in France to mandate support of MPEG-4 HD for HD-Ready TV sets has triggered market demand. With this edition of Comedia, we are delivering the ultimate solution for consumer electronics manufacturers to seamlessly convert analog HDTVs into MPEG-4 HD-compliant integrated Digital HDTVs.”
