Record sales of digital satellite receivers in Germany
Monday, October 19th, 2009UNTERFÖHRING — Demand for digital satellite television in Germany is continuing to rise, according to the latest figures from the consumer research company GfK released by ASTRA Deutschland. In the first eight months of 2009, nearly 1.5 million digital satellite receiver were sold in Germany with a value of around 167 million euros. This represents an increase of 7.5 percent in volume and nearly 20 percent in revenue versus the same period last year.
Overall, according to information from ASTRA Deutschland, in January-August 2009 more than 2 million digital receivers were sold, about 70 percent of which were for satellite, eight percent were for cable TV and 22 percent for digital terrestrial reception.
