Wednesday, October 14th, 2009Industry’s First to Cover Entire UHF Band From 470 MHz to 860 MHz
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the industry’s first high-performance multilayer ceramic chip antennas for mobile devices to cover the entire UHF band from 470 MHz to 860 MHz.
Utilizing Vishay’s unique materials and manufacturing technologies, the new Vishay Vitramon chip antennas comply with the MBRAI standard while maintaining small outlines of 35 mm by 5 mm by 1.2 mm for the VJ 3505, and 10.5 mm by 15.5 mm by 1.2 mm for the VJ 6040.
The devices are designed for mobile UHF TV receivers, including DVB-T, DVB-H, ISDB-T, and MediaFLO™ devices, where they eliminate the need for large external antennas in portable consumer electronics such as mobile phones, multimedia devices, and notebook computers.
The VJ 3505 and VJ 6040 feature a 50-O unbalanced interface and operating temperature range of – 40 °C to + 85 °C. The RoHS-compliant devices are omni- directional with linear polarization, and are designed to be assembled onto a PC board in the standard reflow process. Reference designs and evaluation boards are available upon request.
Samples and production quantities of the ceramic antennas are available now, with a lead-time of eight weeks for larger orders.
