Optimus launches Mobile TV in high definition (Mobile TV HD)
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007Optimus assumes, once again, a pioneering role in the telecoms market by launching a television in high definition service on the mobile phone. This service allows one to watch television on the mobile phone with a superior image and sound quality, since the encoding used is more than double that which is used on the Mobile TV standard. With three times more pixels, 2.5 times more bandwidth and a minimum of 15 frames per second, the experience of watching television via mobile phone is entering a new era with Optimus.
With this pioneer launch, Optimus is surprising its clients with an image and sound quality on the mobile phone that is superior to that of traditional television.
To promote this launch, Optimus is offering the RTP Mobile channel in high definition for free until the end of September, through the Nokia N95. To access this service, Optimus clients have to enter the Optimus Zone (‘Mobile TV’ page), or send an SMS with the text ‘Mobile TV HD’ to 1293.
To launch the Mobile TV HD, Optimus formed partnerships with Alcatel-Lucent, RTP and Nokia.
