Alcatel-Lucent broadcasts IFA International TV at IFA trade show in Berlin using both DVB-H and DVB-SH

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Berlin — During IFA 2007, one of the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show, Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) will be broadcasting IFA Mobile TV, a dedicated mobile TV channel for the show. The program will feature interviews of consumer electronics thought leaders attending IFA, which runs from August 31 through September 5 in Berlin.

For the first time at IFA, this demonstration will encompass the DVB-H and DVB-SH technologies in parallel, two international standards for broadcast mobile TV. Cleverdis, a leading corporate publisher and the editor of the IFA International magazine, will produce the content for IFA International TV.

IFA visitors will be able to view IFA Mobile TV as well as other broadcast mobile TV channels during “walking demonstrations” using DVB-H and DVB-SH in Hall 26. Presentations on the respective advantages of the DVB-H and DVB-SH technologies will be held at the Alcatel-Lucent booth at the Technology & Science Forum — Hall 5.3, Booth #11.

With its unique combination of a specialist exhibition and a forum for discussions about innovative media technology, the IFA’s Technology and Scientific Forum is the natural place to present Alcatel-Lucent’s mobile TV capabilities.

“At Alcatel-Lucent, we believe that the technology is now available to enable the successful ramp up of attractive mobile TV services for the mass market,” added Olivier Coste, Chairman of Alcatel-Lucent’s mobile broadcast activities. “We deem our broadcasting of IFA International TV based on our advanced DVB-H and DVB-SH solutions as a great opportunity to demonstrate how high-quality programs can benefit from a good mix of broadcast mobile TV technologies to reach the largest possible audience in mobility situations.”
