Thaicom DTV Service sells 246,000 dishes in 2009
Friday, February 19th, 2010Thaicom (Bangkok:THCOM) has released its annual financial statements for 2009.
In 2009, DTV Service Co., Ltd. (“DTV”), the Company’s subsidiary, had a continued growth of DTV sales volume. The total number of DTV satellite television dish sets sold thus far by DTV was 592,886 sets as of the end of 2009, up 246,274 sets from the end of 2008.
DTV Service Company Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of THAICOM Plc., established in 2000 for the Internet application services under the name Shin Broadband Internet. At that time, the Company was the first in the country to provide Internet Protocol TV, called “iPTV”. Due to prior expansion on the business lines, DTV provides satellite TV product and service under its brand recognition name as name, “DTV” with a yellow color dish. DTV receives Ku-band satellite TV programs to more than 40 channels on both free-to-air television programs with no monthly fee and pay-per-view program. The Company presents DTV with the concept of “An affordable Satellite TV Dish for Every Home”. At present, the DTV satellite dish set is the lowest cost product in Thailand and in the region.
