Hong Kong - Test Transmission of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Signals
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007Further to the circular letter of July 2005 on the same subject, please be informed that the field trial of DTT broadcasting system would be conducted from now till 25 January 2008 in order to make tests, measurements and demonstrations preparing for the implementation of the DTT broadcasting network. During the said period, test transmission will be conducted on the frequency channels as given in the Annex. In order to avoid any adverse effects caused by the test transmission, the relevant licensees, operators and owners are advised to:
(a) examine and adjust their systems, in particular those using UHF channels 22, 30, 32, 35, 37, 40, 43, 47 and 62 in order to avoid potential interference by the DTT test transmission which might be conducted on the said channels on a regional or territory-wide basis; and
(b) alert end users if they should adjust their video cassette recorders (VCRs) or other customer premises equipment to avoid using Channel 35 or 37 as radio-frequency (RF) output channel for connection to the television sets. If they encounter interference problem by the DTT test transmission, they should consider re-tuning to other unused channels in the IBCCDS or replacing the RF output by audio-visual input/output connection method.
Enquiries concerning the above arrangement may be made to the Office of the Telecommunications Authority by telephone 2961 6713, fax 2803 5113 or email to dtv@ofta.gov.hk.
