Amino passes milestone of three million units sold and shipped globally
Monday, June 21st, 2010Amino Communications (AIM: AMO.L), the world leading IPTV specialist, has sold and shipped its three millionth set-top box (STB), just over a year after hitting the two million sales mark.
Since launching its first product to market in 2002, Amino has developed a range of STBs to meet growing demand for IPTV from network operators, hospitality and enterprise markets. More recently, the company has expanded its offering, launching the award-winning Amino Freedom media centre targeting the growing market for hybrid/OTT devices.
This latest important milestone was reached last month with the sale of STBs to a distributor for Eastern Europe, where the company has enjoyed significant success over the last five years including contract wins with several major network operators.
Amino CEO Andrew Burke said: “Our products are now used in 85 countries around the world – with over 800 customers ranging from major tier one operators to very locally-focused operators. Reaching this important milestone, within 16 months of announcing the two million sales mark, is a strong vindication of our consistent innovation in bringing new and exciting products to market.”
This year, Amino has announced a string of deals, including its first contract to supply its new Intel-backed hybrid/OTT technology to a major Western European operator, and won an important industry award for its Amino Freedom media centre.
