Argentina to deploy Ginga STB middleware

A group of researchers in Argentina is working on a local version of the Ginga® interactive TV software. Ginga is the middleware specification for the Brazilian Digital TV System (Sistema Brasileiro de TV Digital – SBTVD).

The project is a co-operation between members of the Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas (CIC) and experts from the faculty of Computer Science at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP).

According to NexTV Latam the software is due for deployment in set-top boxes to be distributed by the Argentinian government from August/September this year.
