ICASA releases Position Paper on IPTV and VOD in South Africa

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has received numerous enquiries from various parties, including those who are presently licensed to provide communications services and entities looking to enter the sector, in relation to the regulatory treatment and licensing requirements which are attached to IPTV and VOD services in South Africa.
The Authority’s intention in publishing this Position Paper is to set out the Authority’s position in this regard and the Authority’s policy decisions in relation to such services in order to provide clarity to participants in the communications sector.
