Austria to begin DVB-T2 broadcasting
Tuesday, February 15th, 2011At a Digitale Plattform Austria working group meeting today, the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs – RTR) announced its plans to add three additional multiplexes for DVB-T2 broadcasting. Austria’s existing three multiplexes broadcast using DVB-T/MPEG-2.
The first two new multiplexes (MUX D & MUX E), intended to give national coverage using DVB-T2 transmission and MPEG-4 compression, are currently out to tender. The third multiplex, MUX F, will be defined at a later date.
